Lantana is a small seaside village in Palm Beach County just minutes from West Palm Beach. When I first received Holly Manns Thank You Rich Jerk! (also called Honest Riches or Breakthrough Money Making Secrets Revealed), I was a little skeptical at what I was getting. Considering it costs 60% LESS than The Rich Jerk eBook, I was wondering if the amount of information it contained would be proportional to the price. I did find this to be true, but not in the way I imagined.

Thank You Rich Jerk starts off with a short introduction to how Holly started her online venture. This introduction is a testament to showing that willpower and positive state of mind can overcome difficult circumstances. Right off the bat, I was intrigued to how she got from where she was to where she is today. Also, at the bottom of the page was a link to a Live Journal site. Checking out the link, I found that Holly actually participates in the discussions. She provides regular feedback as well as tips on where to get more information or resources for online businesses. Im already impressed and I havent even gotten to the first chapter.

As I said in The Rich Jerk review, this book WILL NOT make money for you with no effort. It will take some time to read through each chapter and then utilize the concepts that Holly discusses. I would list that as a very small drawback of this book. There is so much depth of information, that it might take a few readings of each chapter to fully absorb what is being discussed. That is not to say the concepts are difficult, but that the manner in which it is written allows (and even encourages this). Holly gently takes your hand and guides you down the path to building an online presence. Along the way, she stops to point out different helpful resources as well as to offer encouragement for those just starting out. At the end of the journey, youll feel confident that you too can make money online.

Id be remiss if I didnt mention the numerous free items that Holly provides for download in addition to the eBook. I counted no less that 5 different tools and informational packets that she provided IN ADDITION to the information and links contained in the No Thank You Rich Jerk eBook. As I stated in the opening, the amount of information is proportional to the cost, except in this case your $20 investment is rewarded with copious amount of useful information. This isnt a 54 page sales letter for more products. It is a reference tool, a bible of sorts for anyone wanting to start making money online. Its not a book you will read once and move to the dark recesses of your hard drive. Its one that will be used again and again as your business begins to mature.

Final Analysis: This is probably the best eBook for anyone starting out trying to make money online. Before you invest in compartmentalized books about AdSense or AdWords, or Pay-per-click advertising, I suggest going through Hollys book with a fine toothed comb and gleaning as much information out as possible. Put her information into practice and watch your business grow. In terms of bang for the buck, this is an exceptional deal. For $20, Im not sure there is a better investment one could make. As much as I liked The Rich Jerk eBook, Hollys is step above and costs less.

In another article you may have seen me mention the website GoArticles.com There are hundreds of other article directories but I'll use this one for my example today as I tell you exactly what to do to create a high value ebook in no time. Owners of websites put articles on these directories so as to get free publicity for their website. They put a bit of information about themselves, or their website, at the bottom of their article and they actually WANT people to share their article so they will get MORE publicity. It is a smart way of marketing their website. These articles are often written by experts in their field. They are willing to put in the necessary effort to write these articles so they can reap the benefits of this free advertising for years to come.

Once at http://www.goarticles.com type in a key word for your niche (market, customer base, or group of people with a particular interest/problem they are willing to spend money on) into the search bar at the top right corner of the page. Make sure the search criteria is "search by content" as you will not get far if you search by author. Click the button and you will be suprised at how many articles there are for your particular niche - maybe hundreds, or possibly thousands!

Say I chose 'Persian Cats' as my niche and type this into the search bar. I might get 750+ articles. I now need to sift through them and find 75 different articles of the right quality. The next step is to cut and paste them in to a word processing document. Did I forget to say, this is dead easy?

For example, I might look for something on 'cat behaviour', cat nutrition', cat training (if there is such a thing?) and so on. These would make up the Chapters of your ebook. Once you have your replies from authors (usually 60-80% will be more than happy for you to include their article), you can refine your Chapter list. Try to be creative with this process.

So far, we have: (1) gone to an article directory and searched for articles using our chosen key words - i.e. 'Persian Cats'; (2) selected 75 decent quality articles making up various topic areas; (3) emailed the authors and asked for permission so as to stay on the right side of copywrite laws; (4) put the articles we have permission to use in to imaginative chapters or sections.

The last few steps are: to put your articles in a order; use the article names for your "Contents page"; and write a short introduction and conclusion. These only need to be a few paragraphs telling the reader what the book is about in broad terms. Don't forget to put your name on it and you become an expert, literally, overnight. You could also add a page or two at the front or back to sell your back-end products.

To turn it in to an ebook, you will need software to turn your word processed document into a PDF. Open your word processor; find your document with all the articles (already sorted in order, with a cover, contents page, introduction and conclusion, etc.) and click on "file", then "Print" and select "PrimoPDF" as your printer. Search Engine Rank: Google Page Rank Misconceptions - 2

Improved search engine rank is difficult enough to obtain without you having to trawl through all that has been written about Google Page Rank in order to find the truth. There are many misconceptions about Page Rank, and Part 2 of this article dispels the most common of them, the first being that Yahoo and MSN have their own version.

In fact this is not so. Yahoo had a beta version of a Web Rank visible for a while, ranking complete websites, but it is now offline. MSN has no equivalent as far I can ascertain. The term PageRank is a trade mark of Google, which is why I refer to it as Page Rank and not PageRank. A small difference, but a significant one.

If you are one of those that believe that the more links you can get to your website the better, then you are wrong. When Google started the Page Rank frenzy by putting that little green bar on their toolbar, they didnt realize the consequences of what they were doing. People fought to get as many links to their website as possible, irrespective of the nature of the websites to which they were linking.

That is misconception Number 2. You do not link to websites, you link to web pages, or should I say, you get links back from web pages, not websites. It is, after all, the link back that counts isnt it? The link away from your site doesnt count. Wrong! Misconception Number 3. The link to your web page counts no more than the link away from your web page. In fact, it could count less. You could lose out in the reciprocal linking stakes if your web page is worth more than the other persons.

Lets dispel that misconception right now. When you receive a link from a web page (not web site) you get a proportion of the Google Page Rank of that web page that depends on the total number of links leaving that page. When you provide a link to another web page, you give away a proportion of your Page Rank that depends on the number of other links leaving your web page.

The Page Rank of the website you get a link from is irrelevant, since that is generally the rank of the Home Page. You will likely find that all these great links you think you have from PR 7 or 8 websites are from a links page that has a PR of ZERO! So you get zilch for the deal. If you are providing them with a link from a page on your site even of PR 1, then you lose! Most people fail to understand that.

No incoming link can have a negative effect on your PR. It can have a zero effect, but not negative. However, if you have an incoming link with zero effect, and an outgoing reciprocal link with a positive effect to the target page, then you will effectively lose PR through the deal. Every web page starts with a PR of 1, and so has that single PR to share amongst other pages to which it is linked. The more incoming links it has, the higher PR it can have to share out.

If your page has a PR of 4 and has three links leaving it, each gets twice the number of PR votes than if 6 links leave it. Your page with a PR of 4 has to get a similar number of PR votes incoming as it gives away to retain its PR. In simple terms, if your PR 4 page is getting links from a PR 8 page with 20 links leaving it, you lose out big time! Its simple maths.

No page ever gives away all of its PR. There is a factor in Googles calculation that reduces this to below 100% of the total PR of any page. However, that is roughly how it works. You dont get a proportion of the whole website ranking; you only get part of the ranking of the page on which your link is placed. Since most Links Pages tend to be full of other outgoing links, then you wont get much, and will likely get zero.

That is why automated reciprocal linking software is often a waste of time. If you want to make the best of linking arrangements, then agree with the other webmaster that you will provide each other with a link from equally ranked pages. That way both of you will gain, and neither loses. Some software allows you to make these arrangements.

Another misconception is that only links from external web pages count. In fact, links between your own web pages can be arranged to provide one page with most of the page rank available. Every page has a start PR of 1, so the more pages you have on your site then the more PR you have to play with and distribute to pages on your website of your choice.

Search engine rank can be improved by intelligent use of links, both external and internal, but Google Page Rank does not have the profound effect on your search engine listing that many have led you to believe. Good onsite SEO usually wins so keep that in mind when designing your website.

- Hosting: a place to put your site, if you're planning on making money find a paid solution so you look like a credible business and you cut back on high traffic crashes.

- A website: your image your presence and your marketing message, don't get pulled into the trap I see everywhere of trying to put too many choices on your website. Maximize on the effectiveness by only giving one purpose to a page. For example if you want to build a list - focus all your efforts and copy on that singular focus, if you want your site to sell a product, then only put that focus on your site. - An Autoresponder: This is a real necessity if you want a business and not just a hobby. When you have a family to support this is a real no brainer. This is your email follow up service. You get a name added to your list and this is where they go. You will use this to stay in touch and build relationships with your customers and soon-to-be customers.

- A helpdesk: in the beginning when your business and sales are small you can handle all the little questions and emails yourself. One of the things that will keep a small business is small is thinking "I can do that myself" if you want to truly grow; you need to share the workload (petty tasks) and focus on what you truly want to do creatively for your business.

- Membership Site software: once you're addicted to the internet marketing lifestyle, you will realize this oh-so-simple fact, it's great to make a sale, but it's even better to make a sale once and get paid for it every month. Continuity is king.

- Teleconferencing software: If you want an easy way to create and crank out high ticket products, audios and a transcript is an easy to make, high-value product.

Of course everything we've touched on so far only scratches the surface, but these are the necessities that not only get you started but will make you above average.

Affiliate Programs How to Use Commission Junction

The affiliate program is probably the best return for your effort with the least demand on your time. This has an appeal to the Boomer Entrepreneur since we want to run the business and not have it run us. We want to have time to kick back and smell the roses.

The attraction to this model is that it is virtually risk free except for your time. It costs you nothing to sign up as an affiliate. You recommend the product and send your visitors to the website where the product is sold and if the customer purchases the product, you are paid a commission. Amazon.com is credited with being the first businesses on the Net to fully develop the affiliate concept and now all the major companies have affiliate programs.

When you sign up as an affiliate, you will be given an affiliate number, and a special link to use for linking to the affiliate website. This link will send your visitor to the business site and at the same time tell the business that you sent the visitor so you will receive the commission in the case of a sale.

There are companies that do the accounting and act as the coordinator between affiliates and the companies they represent. These are called affiliate program providers (APPs). One of the major sites for handling affiliate accounting is called Commission Junction. It handles eBay and others. The major site for electronic products is ClickBank. Other sites are BeFree, Linkshare, and Performics. A German APP is Affili.net.

Commission Junction is the largest APP and handles many great companies. To fully explore what is available, you need to sign up at CJ and look for affiliates there. You will be able to see who the companies are and the commission structure of each. You can then join the program right in CJ without having to go to each company and apply.

I suggest that you join CJ and study the many companies that are represented. Take note of a few that you feel might be ones that you would like to represent. Dont join the affiliate program yet, but go to Google and research the company website. See if they sell themselves well and will support the sales effort that you are going to expend to sell their products or services. Also, from CJ, you can link to the landing page in the company website. Go there and check it out to see if it sells well.

Step by Step Start

The following will lead you through the sign up process as a Commission Junction publisher. This process is longer than most that you have previously completed. Be prepared to complete two pages of information. The second page is long and detailed.

First page: Select your language, country, and currency. Click NEXT.

Second page: After swearing to abide by the rules and regs, you will be asked for information about your newsletter or website (URL). If you have a website, you can enter it. If not, make up a name for the eZine that you may plan to publish. For this application, you must make up a newsletter name if you do not have a website (URL). Be creative!

You will then be asked about your promotional methods. Click the Website/Content and Search Engine Marketing buttons. Next click NO on the radio button that asks if you donate any proceeds to charity (unless you want to do so).

Next you will be asked to enter all the information needed for setting up your account. You might have to attempt this page a couple of times since you might not have all the info you might need the first time. A key item you will need is social security number or tax ID if you are registering as a business. If you want to have your payments direct deposited, get a blank check so you will have the info to set up the banking information.

When you finish giving CJ your entire pedigree, click Accept Terms and you are on your way. Check your Inbox for an email from CJ with your acceptance message and password.

Sign up for Commission Junction at

https://signup.cj.com/member/publisherSignUp.do

Once you have received your acceptance email from Commission Junction, log in to www.cj.com and use your password to enter. When you are logged in, you will be on your Commission Junction Home Page. It shows your account status and basic accounting info. It also shows the new advertisers on CJ. You might see if any of these look appealing since you can jump right on them and get a head start.

Near the top of the page click on Account. This is where you can update the information that you entered on your application.

Now down to business. Click on the Get Links tab near the top and you will be presented the page where you can find advertisers. There are several ways to view it: By category, by advertiser name, by Smart Zone, and by relationship which will list all the accounts with which you have an established relationship.

As an example, to find a company with which you are familiar (eBay), select the Category view and in the left column under Commerce, click Auctions. The page that is presented will contain various auction sites, but you will recognize most of them as the various eBay sites for the USA and other countries.

To join an affiliate, click on the View Links in the box with the affiliate name. You will be presented with the various banner ads and links for the affiliate. Pick one and click on it. If you are not a member of the affiliate program, you will be presented a page describing the program and at the bottom of the page is a button Join Program. Click this and see the response. Sometimes you will be accepted immediately and sometimes you will get a message that you will be notified after your application has been reviewed. Go ahead and join eBay USA since you should be accepted immediately by it.

The sequence of Get Links and Join Program is how you sign up for the affiliate programs that you want to represent. It is all in Commission Junction and it makes it very easy for you to grow an affiliate program as your online job.

Note: Some affiliates require that you have a website when you sign up with them. You can build a website later and reapply if this affiliate program is one you want to pursue as an online job.

A word of caution: Becoming an affiliate does not automatically make you rich. Becoming an affiliate establishes the relationship to let you promote a product and get paid for successful promotion. It is up to you to do the work of driving traffic to the affiliate site. If you do your job well, a percentage of the traffic will purchase from the site and you will be paid a commission for those purchases.

This concludes your education about Commission Junction. It is a powerful website and is a must join if you are going to create an affiliate program.

Are You Targeting the Right Prospects with Your Small Business Marketing?

Steve called from Minneapolis to ask how to attract new clients for his auto repair shop. He has been in business for two years and has four trained technicians to keep busy, but he was having difficulty attracting enough new customers.

Steve wasn't just waiting for people to show up at his shop. He regularly mailed letters to new homeowners in the area. His rationale was that people who had just moved into town would be looking for a mechanic before long.

Steve wanted to know why what seemed like a good strategy wasnt working. Why was he only getting one or two inquires from each mailing to 500 prospects? He asked me if he was targeting the right people. "Anyone with a car is in my target market, right?"

Good question. In theory, yes, any car owner living in the area is a potential client. But in reality, car owners have very different attitudes towards car maintenance.

Steve was making the same mistake that most small business owners make in thinking about their target market. He was trying to market to everyone who might use his service instead of targeting the most likely prospects. After trying this for a year, he recognized that this marketing strategy was costly and inefficient.

According to Albert Einstein, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Are you getting the number of inquiries and sales you want from your target market? If you're not getting results then why keep marketing the same way over and over again?

The alternative to broad based, costly marketing is to target your prospects more precisely and shape your marketing accordingly.

There are three types of people in your target market.

First, there are people with immediate problems. These prospects have urgent concerns and want solutions today. In Steve's case, these are the customers who come in with a flat tire or a blown head gasket.

Second, there are people who have a problem or want to improve their situation and are considering a purchase.

They need more information in order to understand why they should use your product or service. They may take more time to reach a decision to buy.

Again in Steve's case, these are people who need their disc brake pads replaced before they fail and cause more costly damage, or who could be getting better mileage with a properly tuned engine, or who should purchase new tires soon to avoid a potential accident. These are the people who need to be educated in order to make a decision.

Finally, there are people like my dear Dad in every target market. It was a point of pride with Dad to see how little he could spend to maintain his cars. He never took a car to a mechanic unless the broken part could no longer be wired back together or the car just wouldn't start. People like Dad have blind spots in certain areas.

The same is true in any business. Some people won't spend money to fix or repair something even if it's barely functioning. No matter what you say or do they dont want to be bothered. Their objective is to spend as little money as possible regardless of whether it costs them more in the long run or not. Know anyone like this?

Even if you have the perfect product or solution for these people, you're not going to get their business. They either know it all or dont want to know. Marketing to this group is a waste of your time and money.

You'll get a much better response by targeting your prospects more precisely. That means marketing to what your prospects are looking for. You'll end up spending less and making more. Steve needed to focus his marketing on car owners who want to fix a problem or prevent one from developing.

In Steve's case a few changes to his marketing letter could make a huge difference. With a few questions he could help his prospects identify their concerns and then give them some helpful maintenance tips that involve his services.

You can do the same. With a few changes to your marketing strategy and your marketing copy you'll get a much better response and see your business soar.

Revealed, You Need a US Bank Account to Make Money Online!

Yes, it has been revealed, that you need a US Bank account to make and retain money online. No matter where you live, if you are going to make any amount of money online and be able to retain or save same, you need to have a US bank account.

We all have Bank accounts in our respective home countries or residences. No problem with that - it is easy to get. We need this to run our lives, do our day to day activities off-line and so on. It is no big deal or a problem. So it is until I got online to make money two years ago.

When you get online and try to make money, then you realize that the rule of the game will change for you. Suddenly you will realize that you need a US Bank account with a Bank over there in the US. Why? Because 80%-90% of the Internet businesses is controlled by people in US / Canada. That is the way it is for now and in the foreseeable future. And I doubt if the equation is ever going to change at all.

When you want to make money online, in most cases the buyer will be a US native who is either using PayPal or a Credit card to pay for things online. You have got to hook up with PayPal by opening an account with them to receive your payments from other PayPal users. But PayPal only allows people from about 50 countries of the world to use her services. In other words, you can not open an account with them if you are not from these 48-50 countries. Then you realize you are stuck.

What is the alternative if this is your situation? Get a Merchant account or a third party payment processor to take credit and debit cards payments for you. From our earlier equation, 80%-90% of the time, the guys will be in the US. When it is time for the card company to transfer your money to you less their charges, you are going to receive a check which might take 2-4 weeks to get to you, depending on your location. You get the check, assuming you are lucky it did not get lost in transit, and deposit the same with your Bank in your home country. Your bank sends the check for collection in US - another 2-4 weeks. In US, your funds get cleared in 2-3 business days. Then you get your credit. Now your Bank will charge you about $25 - $45 for the check: remember they have to pay DHL / FedEx to transport your check along with other documents, plus they are in business. Get it?

Now for all they care, your check may be for an amount of between $100 to $200, especially if you are just starting out. If you get 10 - 20 checks in a year (yes you can be getting many checks from various affiliate programs) you might find yourself paying $250 - $900 for the year.

Now compare yourself with someone with a US Bank account. He gets paid by what they call ACH (Automated Clearing House) system. This is just an electronic fund transfer system initiated by individual account owners in US to pay others within a network of some banks in US / Canada. This takes just 2-3 days and bang, your money is in your US bank account. It is mostly free to go. In some case you pay a token. I pay $3 to receive ACH into my US Bank account. I live in Africa and I have access to my funds by use of the Card issued to me by the US bank. I can withdraw money daily at the ATM in my country, no problem! My problem is to make the money go into my US bank account:-

Also I can use my Card to buy things online, a privilege not enjoyed by many especially in the developing and under-developed countries.

Now you can see that it is a must for you to have a US bank account if you want to make and retain money from the Internet. But getting one is one of your greatest nightmare as a non-resident.

A non-resident refers to the non-US citizens, having no residential base in the country. It is generally put in to the use by the country's banking sector.

The banking laws as it concerns a non-resident is very strict. It is almost impossible if you do not know how to go about it. The thing is complex and complicated and most Banks will just avoid doing this for non-residents. For them it is a mine field which only a few have mastered. I spent 4 years researching this after I found myself in the above situation earlier mentioned. In my case I even had money trapped with PayPal, after opening my account in PayPal with a US mailing address (perfectly legal).

Now let us look briefly at how you can set up a US Bank account as non-resident of US.

First option is that you set up a company, incorporate one and have an office presence in the United States. Very expensive option you know. How many of us can afford this?

Second option is have someone do it for you for a fee ranging from $400-$800. Expensive also.

Third option is buy the info. They are a few good Reports that will show you how to do this by yourself. The price for the Reports ranges from $20 - $97. This was the option that I used to get my own US bank account.

Whichever option that you decide to follow is entirely up to you.

You can do some searching at a place like Google.

You could pay for the information or get a company or someone to do it for you at a fee. It depends on you and your pocket.

You need not to incorporate a US Company before you can get a US Bank account. That is an expensive approach.

So go ahead and get your own US Bank account now. Do not wait until tomorrow as the laws are constantly changing. What is possible today may not be possible tomorrow. ACT fast. Good Luck.
